Did you all hear about the Ohio mother who was suffering from postpartum psychosis, that stabbed and decapitated her infant daughter? How tragic.
This is exactly why I’m blogging. While she was being treated, obviously no one was paying enough attention to her. They didn’t realize the severity of her illness. She probably didn’t realize the severity of her illness.
Mommas, please know you’re not alone. Know that it’s OKAY to ask for help, it’s not a sign of weakness. Daddy’s, Aunties, Grandma’s, Grandpa’s and friends, learn the signs and symptoms, offer support, offer help, take them to the Doctor’s. Don’t diminish their feelings, don’t expect it to just go away. This is serious!! It’s OKAY to talk about it!!!
Please save a life, talk about postpartum depression! Moms, please, please seek help! Don’t suffer in silence, alone!! It takes a lot of strength to say “I need help”.
Some days are hard, and other days are harder…find someone to lean on before it’s too late. Have them help you find a good doctor. There are resources for postpartum depression and they can help you find a good doctor. Seek them out! Do not be afraid!
Let’s end this cylce. Let’s end the negative stigma. Speak out. Save a life.
